New Poetry January-June 2023

Top picks23rd March 2023

In this list we're both playing catch-up and glancing ahead: highlighting the books of poetry we've loved most so far this year, and giving a brief nod to what we're looking forward to up to June. In terms of events, we recently welcomed Will Harris to the shop to launch his new collection Brother Poem, and in early May we'll be hosting Kae Tempest for the release of Divisible by Itself and One: both poets are firm favourites among our booksellers. Elsewhere in this list, Maggie Milner's Couplets has caught the attention of Anna, Molly, and Kira; Helena is intrigued by Jen Calleja's Dust Sucker, the reissue of June Jordan's Haruko/Love Poems, and the first collection by local poet Roshni Gallagher, Bird Cherry; and Marc advocates for Lucille Clifton's Blessing the Boats, William Carlos Williams's repackaged epic Paterson, and Solmaz Sharif's intricate, beautiful second book, Customs.
