Cancer initiation and progression are still incompletely understood, with all the negative impact on the indicated therapy. The cancerous tumor is not completely "guilty" of the sufferings of cancer patients. Cancer is a systematic disease from the very beginning, though its most prominent expression and product is the tumor, developing at the most vulnerable sites of the organism. Treatment would be much more well-grounded, planned and effective, if it gave more importance to the therapeutic means that address the logic of the normal processes in health and disease, to the laws of physiology, through a "language" made understandable by the physiological mechanisms of the organism. The developing involvement of low and ultra-low doses of drugs seems promising and should be promoted. The correct selection of the kind and time of the indicated treatment and a close follow-up of both the local pathology and the diseased totality of the cancer patient, are the key factors for an essential improvement of prognosis, for a realistic and optimistic vision of the outcome of both the patient and the disease.
