A note on our stock

184,000 new titles are published each year in the UK. Our stock changes constantly and we try our hardest to keep our selection up to date and relevant. Aside from literary classics we don’t ‘stock’ any books for a significant length of time, as to remain a profitable business we must ensure our stock selection is always being refreshed.

Please note that if you wish to contact us regarding stocking a title, we are only able to stock items that are indexed on our systems via our wholesalers, Bertrams and Gardners.

The writers of all the titles we stock have each had to go through a lengthy process of writing, submitting their work to publishers, having it copy edited, designed and jacketed, and pitched to us via representatives of the publisher, along with many other steps along the way. Titles that have gone through this process are ones we can consider stocking in the shop when they are released. For more information and tips on how to go about getting published and eventually having your work stocked in a bookshop, we recommend purchasing The Writer’s and Artist’s Yearbook, an annual publication full of such advice. This is available to purchase from ourselves and most good bookshops.
