A Gift for a Curious Mind

This is a quietly brilliant, emotionally warming and curiously playful story that I just couldn’t put down. With its intergenerational themes and soft (but strong!) teachings about Buddhism and mindfulness, it leaves you feeling all the richer for having met the characters, stepped into the setting and turned each and every page. It reminded me a lot of books by one of my favourite authors, Jostein Gaarder, and weaves in gentle philosophy and humanistic themes just as skilfully. If you need a bit of magic and warmth in your life, then this is the book for you.

Another gem from Gary Heads, another charming and delightful story which is full of insights into the deepest of human questions: ‘What happens when you die?’ Told from three perspectives, an old lady, a teenage girl, and a stray cat, we’re taken on a journey of love and loss, and learning. There are so many treasures in this book, mine was quite studded with Post-It Notes by the time I finished!
