Grow closer to your family with this new book by the author of the hit 190k copies sold self-help bestseller 'A Year Of Us'.
Happy Family is a simple and thought-provoking gift book for you and your family, underwritten by the real expertise of its brilliant and fully credentialed US-based author Alicia Munoz. It will show you the huge gains you can make if you spend 15 minutes per day having fun and sharing meaningful conversations with the people that you love the most - even if they sometimes drive you mad.
The creative, quirky and inspiring questions in this book get families talking, laughing, and sharing details about their inner and outer lives, helping them get to understand one another better, become more understanding and patient, and deepen IRL connection in an age of ubiquitous smart phones.
Whether readers find themselves disconnected on long car rides, regularly eating in silence around a dining room table, or at a loss for words during family gatherings, birthday parties or at holiday events, the 250 questions in this book are unique and thought-provoking enough to get the extroverts listening and the introverts talking.
Even for close, expressive families, this book will offer new angles and ideas on familiar themes, providing tools to help readers create a culture of curiosity and communication around topics that matter most to families, highlighting the shared history, unique roles, and evolving developmental stages of different family members, from thoughtful toddlers to reluctant teenagers and elderly relatives. It is a book to bind you together.

This will work better as a physical book than an ebook. It has many great ideas that I am excited to do with my family. I love that it is just 15 minutes a day. I can see some of the activities being done engaging it will take longer but the family won't mind. -- Vanessa Eyre, Librarian * NetGalley *

I love the heart and the "why" behind this book. The questions are great, offering family members a chance to be honest, kind, and reflective. Though many of the questions feel designed for kids, they can still apply adults, too. I like that there's space to record answers, though you might have to write small :) My only wishes about the book would be for more organization, and for the family soft skills inventory to be at the beginning AND end of the book, since the author suggested doing it twice. Overall, this is a great resource for families with older kids (I'd say 6+) who want to connect more. I really love the questions. I give it 4.5 stars rounded up to 5.

Thank you to NetGalley, John Murray Press, and Sheldon Press for the free eARC! I post this review with my honest opinions.

This review is crossposted to Goodreads. It will be on Amazon and Instagram within a week of the book's publication.

As a fellow therapist/social worker and mom, I enjoyed reading the beginning of this journal about why the author chose to create this book.

The modern family is so incredibly busy, mine included, that I feel these prompts will provide unique conversation starters that can open the door for deeper, more authentic conversations and moments with our families. My children are too young to participate in every question but I have written down many of my favorites that I think are applicable to our current family structure. Additionally, I think it opens the conversation between my husband and I on what type of environment we want to foster for our children.

The questions provided are not basic questions you can find anywhere else, I feel as though they were crafted with care from someone experienced in emotional intelligence, communication styles, and parenthood, to really provide a wide range of engaging, thought-provoking, and fun inducing prompts.

This book is such a helpful guide for busy families! I loved the simple, practical tips for spending just 15 minutes together each day. The ideas are easy to follow, creative, and actually doable, which makes family time feel less stressful and more meaningful. A great reminder to slow down and connect. -- Sylvan Banes * NetGalley *
A refreshing take on relationships that blends practical tools with real encouragement. Honest, compassionate, and easy to apply-it feels like having a wise friend walk you through building deeper connections. -- Brandi Upton * NetGalley *
Happy Family has an insightful and reassuring introduction followed by prompts, in various topics, of questions to discuss as a family. Hopefully will lead to some interesting family conversations! -- Laura Ward * NetGalley *

My family already has several sets of conversation starter questions that we use to learn more about each other and dig deep- and ultimately, that's the main bulk of this book.

The intro is great actually and discusses why it's important to connect- we all want connection, but when no one is making the effort no one wants to be the first. The intro also talks about honoring different comfort levels, allowing yourself to feel vulnerable but pushing yourself to letting down your guard, etc. That said, that section isn't very long and 4/5 of the book, if not more, is conversation starters.

IF you don't already have your own conversation starters cards/books/internet lists then this is a great buy. I would get it in physical form rather than eBook.

If you already have something like it, you're not going to find anything new here. I'd recommend maybe checking it out from your local library to read the intro portion.
