A great starting point for anyone of any age who would like to learn to draw kawaii characters. Each character has a full page with illustrated instructions showing how to draw them step-by-step. The steps are easy to follow and simple to complete. The fundamentals are explained well and there is even a page with different faces for different emotions in case you want to alter their mood. I really enjoyed sketching some new characters and hope to continue practicing this art style! * - Kelly Kat *
I've learned how to draw a red panda in nine easy steps! With easy steps to follow, and the next step color coded, one could easily learn to draw anything in this book. Even when my four year old didn't quite get it right, she was still left with a very cute result. I love how quick confidence in drawing can grow with this book. * - Shawn Ly *
My daughter had a ton of fun trying to draw the things in this book. Some were a little challenging for her (she is 7) but she still enjoyed trying. She wants to try drawing all of them! * - Ashley Daudish *
My kids (7 years old and 10 years old) loved these cute, little kawaii illustrations, and so did I! The instructions were easy to follow, and there is a great selection of characters to create. We had fun making and colouring our favourites. At the start of the book, there is a guide on how to draw all the different feelings in kawaii style (happy, sad, excited, mad and more!) for easy customization. I like how there are different sections based on different themes (animals, food, objects and mythical monsters). There are some blank pages in the book to draw your own creations, but we preferred to draw them on plain cardstock with ink, markers, and coloured pencils. A great book for people of all ages to learn to draw kawaii. * - Kayla Groening *
My ten year old daughter and I love doodling and writing notes so when I saw this adorable book it was a no-brainer. The tutorials are as cute as the book's cover and so easy to follow. A great activity to do while spending quality time with your favorite littles. Also would make a great gift. * - Athena Ferguson *
Ok, I really want this book. I've always wanted to learn how to draw. With this book's guidance, I was actually able to draw! These characters are so cute too. This is a great book for anyone that wants to learn how to draw cute little animals. * - Laura Phelan *
This book has quite a lot to offer! The assortment of projects covers everything from puppies to narwals to mermaids to shoes, so there is probably something for basically every little artist to get excited about. There are also some really cute extra touches like a name page in the front and a dedicated drawing page after every few designs to showcase your own creations. However, I would have appreciated a few extra tips beyond the black/blue line steps as some of the shapes are difficult to grasp for a true beginner (I'm looking at you, Hydra horns!). All in all, though, it is a fun activity book that can be used alone or in a group of all ages. Especially recommended for families with elementary students or teachers looking for quick 'art breaks' they can do in their classes. * - Ashley Philips *
This book is really fun. We've owned a few different 'How to draw' books for kids and this one has the best instructions so far (dotted lines mean this, blue lines mean this, etc.) Explaining the feelings and the different eyes, faces, etc and teaching someone how to customize the drawing making it unique to them and not just tracing or learning that there is only one way to draw something. I feel like the age range is appropriate too. I think kids 8-12 are the right target audience, however, I really think adults would love this too. Especially if they like to doodle or if they like Kawaii coloring books. I'd absolutely gift this with a notebook and set of alcohol markers. * - Hannah Bridle *
This drawing book was super easy to follow for both me and my 9 year old daughter. We are pretty picky about drawing books because many of them skip steps or expect you to understand big jumps between stages, which can be frustrating for beginners. This one did a great job of providing clear and exact instructions from start to finish. The guide at the beginning was especially helpful. It explained what each type of line meant, which lines to draw or which lines needed to be erased, and how to follow each step. The steps were easy to follow and the expressions were fun to experiment with. The kawaii tips were helpful for adding extra personality. We also loved the variety of things to draw. Highly recommended for beginners, kawaii loving kids, and those just looking to draw cute things. * - Ashley Griffith *
This is a very cute book. Easy to follow instructions, adorable animals. I'm still a terrible artist, but this book gave me hope. If I can draw something that looked similar to these cuties, anyone can! * - Talicia Ajruloski *
This was such a wonderful surprise! In a world of so many 'How to Draw' books, this one will stand out. The Introduction and amp; How To pages are so helpful in guiding young artists through the process and emotions. And the notes accompanying the supplies are adorable. My only criticism would be to put the empty spaces for drawing between sections, and to add a few extra pages at the back. Or, to have an empty drawing space on the backsides of each page so kids can draw next to the instructional page. Having them randomly placed throughout is a bit awkward. * - Lindsey Checker *
Well I absolutely loved this. This was such a fun book. It was easy to follow and was clearly guided for kids. I sat with my little one and we had a blast looking through the different art that we could draw. The step-by-step guide, as well as the dotted and erase lines were incredibly helpful. I loved the 'All the feelings' page and could use this for other drawings. This is a great book I could bring on road trips and school breaks. I would absolutely recommend! * - Ashlee Miller *
