It's a windy day on the island. Kitty LOVES windy days! They're perfect for flying a kite. But what happens when an unsuspecting Bernard gets a little caught up in the kite?

It’s bath night on the island. Kitty is going to make it extra special for her best pals: bubble bath, disco lights, bath bombs and – shhh! – Bernard’s extra special shampoo. Hmmm, it's looking VERY bubbly. Maybe she’s used just a bit TOO MUCH?

It’s a stormy night on the island. Luckily, Salty is on hand to sing everyone some sea shanties. But then the lights go out and there’s a mysterious knock on the door…

It’s a foggy night on the island.
Kitty has knitted a jumper for Bernard. But it’s MUCH too big. Bernard is upset. Kitty is upset. It’s a good thing Salty has just the right solution.

The fun, warmth and joys of friendship are explored in four colourfully illustrated stories perfectly created to encourage youngsters setting out on independent reading… With cosy stories to enjoy and Stephens’ stunning four-colour illustrations, all set in a beautifully imagined and utterly charming seaside world, this lovely book is ideal for bedtime sharing and building confidence in early readers. -- Pam Norfolk * Lancaster Guardian *
Salty Dog and Pals is a charming and entertaining book which can be read together over a number of lessons or as a read-alone book for those getting used to short stories about one subject. The illustrations, drawn by Helen Stephens, bring the different adventures to life and show what the three friends enjoy about living on their little island. -- Tracy Wood * School Reading List *
My son absolutely loved this book, such lovely tales of 3 friends. Lots of funny parts and sea shanties which my son keeps singing! The illustrations are bright and wonderful. This is the first book he has requested to read over and over again and keeps asking if there are any other stories about Salty Dog! * Toppsta Reviewer *
This beautifully illustrated book is a perfect introduction to chapter books for young readers. Divided into four short stories, it offers exciting adventures with Salty Dog and his friends that are easy to read and enjoy without feeling overwhelming. The balance of engaging text and large, colourful illustrations makes it feel like a "big kid" book while still being accessible for children who are not yet ready for longer chapter books. The pictures are fantastic and bring the stories to life, making each adventure even more enjoyable. A charming and manageable read that we both thoroughly enjoyed and would happily read again. * Toppsta Reviewer *
This book is so lovely, we had a great time reading the four different stories. My son particularly liked the character Bernard and the story about the jumper. The illustrations accompany the story perfectly and have little details that we talked about. As the chapters are quite short my son was also reading some of the pages, so it has been great to encourage his reading. * Toppsta Reviewer *
