In YOU VS The Poison Plot, it’s the eve of the school talent show, but the school’s drama teacher has suddenly collapsed with four witnesses at his side! As editor of the school newspaper and a seasoned journalist, you investigate – and smell foul play. You’ve got ‘til tomorrow’s show to follow your nose and unravel the mystery…
Perfect for fans of Cluedle and Murdle Junior as well as The Boy With Big Decisions, this first book in the series is an attempted-murder mystery where YOU get to solve the case!
In this gloriously interactive mystery book, you find yourself embroiled in an intricate case involving a poisoned teacher in the build up to the biggest event of the year, the school talent show... This book is seriously gripping thanks to its interactive elements... The story itself is well-written and includes lots of humour amongst the intrigue, giving it a light feel. Readers will also enjoy the cartoon-like illustrations which appear throughout the story, often themselves serving as clues or puzzles which contribute to the plot. * BookTrust *
A book of heartfelt fun. -- Louise Ellis-Barrett * Armadillo *
In class, where perhaps most children encounter books these days, this is far more likely to be picked up and read during those opportunities that are given for solo reading than those books where the chapters seem to be never ending, giving less confident readers a real sense of achievement that will go a long way towards convincing them that reading can be pleasurable. This is also exactly the sort of book that kids like to share with their friends during those times, making it cool and again far more likely to be read.
Unlike some of the books that fall under the choose-your-path umbrella, reading this is simplicity itself. While some of those I’ve read in the last year or two require inventory or record sheets and suchlike to be downloaded and printed out, all that is needed to engage with this is a way of marking your page so that you don’t lose your place. With several different endings, this is also a story that can be enjoyed many times by those picking it up, which is again something that can make all the difference to those who are yet to discover reading for pleasure.
With a wealth of clues to follow, characters to profile and avenues to take, humour that prevents things getting too heavy, as well as lots of black and white illustrations, many acting as puzzles or clues. this book is just right for fans of graphic novels and comics, especially murder mysteries and choose your own adventure stories. Prepare to be gripped from the outset. * Red Reading Hub *
Really enjoyable book and unusual format with a choose your own story. I liked the plot, which kept me hooked. Would recommend to others. * Toppsta Reviewer, aged 10 *
