Social Profile cover

Social participation includes a broad spectrum of human behavior, and social interaction, engagement, and cooperation become more complex as people develop and age. Based on the natural social development of children, adolescents, and adults, the Social Profile is a psychosocial instrument designed to assess behavioral interactions. Intended for use by therapists, teachers, team leaders, and group members, the Social Profile assesses whether groups or individuals participate appropriately at a level suitable for the activity or development stage. This assessment includes a Children’s version and an Adult/Adolescent version.

The Social Profile is unique in that it offers a general participation assessment across five levels of participation and cooperation and the specific behaviors that make up these five levels. The Social Profile provides both a general overview and detailed measurement of social cooperative behaviors.

The manual details instructions on how to administer the Social Profile with groups and individuals, describes how the assessment was developed, and summarized research to support its use. Also included are 14 case examples that illustrate how the Social Profile can be used. A flash drive contains downloadable and writable version of the Children’s version, the Adult/Adolescent version, and a group participation social observation sheet.
