Why do bubbles hold their shape? How does an electric circuit work? What makes popcorn pop? Can an egg bounce? If you thought that science could only be practised wearing white coats in a sterile laboratory, think again! A brilliant way to link the STEM/STEAM themes being taught at school back to your home in a fun and fascinating way. Perfect for budding scientists who love to ask… ‘why?’ Activities include: making slime; hot ice; baking soda fizz bombs; coloured milk; make your own crystals; invisible ink; soda bottle ecosystem; and many more.

The inside of the book really takes science to another level for these young minds, with simple instructions and a combination of superb photos and illustrations. The simplicity of the tasks is also a great bonus. Virtually all materials needed will be standard household items. This is a golden opportunity to make chance for learning and bonding with your child.

The best part about this compendium of STEM experiments is their step-by-step instructions WITH photos! ...This would be great for after school programs, nature centers that do programs for young kids, or libraries!

I love that, for the most part, the ingredients are actually things around the house. Almost all the other science experiment books I’ve seen require lots of purchases but we were able to immediately start experimenting when the book came in the mail. The instructions are easy and illustrated, the materials easy to find, and there’s science facts following each experiment. ...This would be perfect for homeschooling too.

...an amazing book, full of 30 hands on STEM experiments to try at home with your kids. It starts with an introduction that explains why Science is so important, how to stay safe and some useful tools that you will need. Each experiment is shown with real life photos and fun illustrations, a ‘you will need’ list, a ‘tip’ for the experiment and then numbered instructions. At the bottom of each experiment is a ‘science made simple’ explanation of what’s happening in the experiment and why. The language is simple and clear, so older children could follow the experiments themselves (though anything like this is best supervised of course). There is a really useful glossary at the back of the book, full of brilliant STEM based vocabulary too. We absolutely adore this book and whole heartedly recommend it.

What a great book!  Whatever your age, there is something for everyone's taste in this book. ...Using household objects, or easily sourced materials, this book is a wonderful collection for all parents and carers who want to wow their children and help broader their minds with the wonders of science, without the need to be a scientist themselves.
