Lourenço manages to convey a real sense of Mimi’s personality, whether she is despondent, dehydrated or determined, her expressive face supports reader understanding of how she is feeling throughout. The intention behind this picturebook is laudable and the environmental message is delivered with a fairly light touch. Lourenço cleverly imbues the story with a sense of Irishness in the illustrations; the inclusion of dry stone walls, a GAA pitch and a round tower distinguish it from other, similar books. A picturebook likely to appeal in pre-school and early primary school settings as well as to young minibeast enthusiasts

The story is simple and interesting and informally teaches some facts about bees. The illustrations are colourful and beautiful and very appealing to young children … It would also be suitable for infant classes in school and would be suitable for literacy or science, linking in with a nature, bugs or environmental theme.
