Learn to paint pocket-sized woodland watercolour scenes in 15 half-hour lessons with best-selling author and trusted watercolour teacher Geoff Kersey.

Fast, fun results, with full-size templates!

Within this inspiring, practical book are full instructions for 15 small but perfectly-formed landscape paintings themed around trees and woodlands. The 30-minute paintings are all worked at postcard size – ideal for a 6 x 4in (A6) watercolour pad - and simple outline drawings are provided for those who are less confident at drawing.

Highly varied, the projects range from snow scenes to bluebell woods, and show you how to use classic watercolour techniques with minimal materials to produce beautiful postcards to keep, send or show off.

  • The beginner-friendly projects are packed with hints and tips and structured step by step, making it easy to follow the instructions and achieve your own fantastic results!
  • Each of the 15 projects takes just 30 minutes, so are quick and easy to paint in an evening or in a spare afternoon.
  • No drawing is necessary – full-sized line drawings for each postcard artwork are provided at the back of the book.

This book uses material previously published as Ready to Paint in 30 Minutes: Trees and Woodlands (9781782215264).

It's amazing! The book features expert tuition, lots of scenes, techniques, tips and advice. There is a section on what materials  to use. Also, the projects show the end results too, along with outline drawings.

In what has all the hallmarks of a new incarnation of Search Presss hugely successful Ready to Paint series, Geoff Kersey introduces the humble treescape.

The painted postcard has many attractions, not least its portability no need for an easel or large, unwieldy blocks or sheets of paper and probably only a pocket watercolour box. Back when I was selling art materials, we ordered postcard pads in 50s, such was their reliable popularity. A further advantage comes with the traceable outlines actual size and no need to assemble or fold out a larger format.

Geoff illustrates 15 compositions, from a path through autumn parkland to bluebells in spring as well as a snow-filled winter lane and a tree-backed farm. The ideas are simple but not simplistic and will give you a nice exercise with a variety of shapes, colours and techniques. Each subject is fully demonstrated, with plenty of steps and a full-page illustration of the result youre aiming for. Its just a shame that the reproduction seems more than a little muted Geoff is not noted for his bright colours, but I think this is more than that and some of the detail is quite hard to see.

For all that, this is an excellent idea and its to be hoped that further subjects are added in the not-too-distant future.
