As the morning light appears, tuck them in and say sweet dreams.

Young vehicle enthusiasts will love seeing the seven featured in Meg Hunt's illustrations, each with its animal crew and come to appreciate the vital roles played by their human counterparts who often receive little recognition for their labours. They will enjoy too the opportunity to join in with the onomatopoeic honks, beeps, nee-news etc.as an adult shares the book at bedtime or in an education setting. * Re Reading Hub Blog *
"The perfect things that go bedtime story!" The Good Night Garage is a fully rhyming bedtime story about the vehicles that keep our streets clean and safe at night. It's the perfect story to teach little ones about more things that go that aren't always included in other books, like the marking lorry and the street sweeper! It is beautifully illustrated with a soft colour scheme that perfectly evokes the night time setting. I recommend this for anyone who's looking for a book about things that go or anyone looking to teach their little ones about essential night time jobs. * Waterstones Bookseller Review *

It's night time in Motor Isle, and while most of its cute little residents are tucked up cosily in bed, everyone in the Good Night Garage is working through the night to make sure that everything is ready for the next day. Every vehicle has its own special duty: the marking lorry sprays lines on the road to make sure everyone knows where to go; the bin lorry takes away the smelly rubbish; the fire trucks and ambulances answer calls all night and the street sweeper keeps the streets clean. The rhyming text in this charming picture book has a gentle, soothing rhythm, which means that this makes a perfect bedtime book for little ones - especially children that love trucks, cars and big vehicles. Meg Hunt's cute, soft-coloured illustrations complement the story beautifully and show children the vehicles at work, driven and working with cute animal characters. There's lots of nice background detail to look at in the night time town, too, making this a lovely bedtime book that can be enjoyed over and over again. * BookTrust *
A beautiful rhyming book about vehicles with nighttime tasks to complete around Motor Isle. The story follows many different vehicles, from the night bus to a firetruck, as they complete jobs to keep the community running smoothly. In addition to the common storybook animals (i.e. bunnies, bears, and cats), this book includes falcons, rams, giraffes, and star-nosed moles. The end pages include illustrations of the seven vehicles from the story. Hunt's illustrations use a cool color palette of blue, purple, and green, with occasional pops of orange and pink. There is great variety in composition with some pages highlighting one vehicle, while others show a busy traffic scene. The sounds of the vehicles are captured with onomatopoeia speech bubbles - hiss, crash, and woo-woo. Hunt creates detailed and dynamic illustrations that show all the activity going on after dark! -- Colleen Stewart, Librarian * Youth Services Book Review *
