Advanced Social Work with Children and Families cover

Practice and legislation in child and family social work are always changing and have once again come under the spotlight. This text contextualises the bureaucratisation and managerialism of modern social work while also covering the advanced and complex skills necessary for competent social work practice in this area. The recent introduction of a new framework for Post-Qualifying social work practice provides an opportunity for the development of a robust text covering the basics at an advanced level.

Excellent book, easy to use, up to date information, great for those on PQ2 -- Miss Anita Ganday * drupal *
Excellent book that offers a numerous opportunities for students to reflect on their post qualifying practice and experiences. I like that it covers a variety of themes and areas, meaning that it applies and appeals to most practitioners. -- Miss Jessica Wagner * drupal *
very clear and useful -- Mrs Fiona Wilkes * drupal *
Covers material that is relevant to health visiting, so gives a valuable alternative perspective on working with children and families. -- Mrs Julianne Harlow * drupal *
Section on legislation could have been clearer - more flow diagrams perhaps. -- Ms Fleur Duke * drupal *
Good extra reading for PQ candidates -- Ms Helen Burrows * drupal *
This will be added to the reading list as ′recommended reading′. -- Ms Michaela Rogers * drupal *
Liked the clear overview of policy and legislative frameworks (Ch.2). Good honest discussion about impact of situation on self (Ch.4). I did not find presentation of info in all tables clear (E.g. Table 7.1) although diagrams were very clear (E.g. Fig 7.1 adoption process). -- Ms Sally Scott * drupal *
Solid sound book challenges and gives a contextual background to the conflicts that social workers face. -- Ms Wendy Lowe * drupal *
