Notable Names in Anaesthesia

I found Roger Maltby's book a pleasure to read, invariably informative, nicely illustrated, and well edited. It should find a place in the libraries of all anaesthesia departments and medical schools. (Canadian Bulletin of Medical History, 2003 ) For wannabe anaesthetists who would like some background on their aspirations this is a must. For the rest of us, this can definitely be something that is entertaining to dip into. (Student BMJ ) It is imaginative in concept and successful in execution. Buy it, dip into it, and enjoy it. Many of the names are still alive and some are still practising anaesthetists. There is a wealth of information in these concise biographies.
