The work of Swiss artist Alberto Giacometti ( 9 - 9 ) represents a unique contribution to modernist sculpture. Known for his elongated, expressive figures from the period after 945, he was also a notable member of the Surrealist group around André Breton between 93 and 935. To mark the anniversary " Years of Surrealism", the exhibition and catalogue shed light on Giacometti's surrealist oeuvre, exploring how the surrealist element continues in his post-war works. His friendship and artistic ties with Max Ernst are also examined for the first time. The richly-illustrated, trilingual catalogue presents Giacometti's surrealist-influenced sculptures together with paintings, drawings and prints.
