A curated collection of intimate conversations celebrating the creative lives of nine remarkable women, bringing The Forgotten Her Story project to life in print.
Founded by Manuela Wirth, The Forgotten Her Story project celebrates womanhood, craft and the handmade by telling the stories of some of the most remarkable creative women of our time, from artists and makers to writers, dancers and collectors. In this publication, readers are welcomed into the lives of these incredible women. Intimate conversations, held in the studio or at home, are accompanied by photographs and ephemera that together form a rich portrait of each woman. Dancer Haydeh Changizian tells the inspirational story of how she came to be one of Iran’s first and only prima ballerinas and fashion designer Kazu Huggler reflects on her Japanese cultural heritage with her mother Miwako. Food writer Anna Del Conte shares memories of her early days as a cook with granddaughter Coco, and puppet designer Lyndie Wright speaks with her daughter about her love for her magical craft. Other stories of creativity and cultural exchange come from collectors Ursula Hauser and Eileen Norton, textile artists Rachel Scott and Celia Pym and art therapist Sigríður Björsdóttir. These individual threads weave together into a tapestry in which the everyday is inseparable from the artistic, creating a living archive of voices ready to share the kind of wisdom that can only be accumulated over the course of a life extraordinarily well lived. Exquisitely presented in a clothbound volume, 'The Forgotten Her Story' is a collection to spend time with, to treasure and to pass down—a book as unique as the women whose stories it tells.
