"PreS-Gr 2–Louie is a dragon who breathes colorful emotions. He picks berries but gets upset when squirrels scatter the berries. Louie breathes deeply and moves to a pond to calm down. He finds a shiny rock at the bottom of the pond, but it is stuck under a heavy rock, which makes Louie sad. He sees a bright light in the forest and feels amazed to realize it is fireflies! He feels playful while playing ball with his friend Rosie. When the wind rolls the ball into a dark cave, they feel afraid. Louie bravely retrieves the ball and feels triumphant. Louie realizes that all of them have their own rainbow of emotions. Shein creatively switches the classic dragon’s breath and fire to a colorful emotional breath. She denotes colorful emotion combinations: happy yellow, orange excitement, mad red, sad blue, amazed purple, calm green, playful pink, fear gray, and triumphant gold.
