Amilcar Cabral Author

Amilcar Cabral (1924-1973) was a writer, intellectual and one of Africa’s foremost anticolonial leaders. He led the nationalist movement for Guinea Bissau and Cape Verde Islands and the ensuing revolution for independence in Guinea Bissau. He was assassinated by the Portuguese secret police in January 1973. Dan Wood, the translator, is a PhD candidate in Philosophy at Villanova University. Reiland Rabaka is Professor of African, African American and Caribbean Studies at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
