Dr. Samy Madbouly is an Assistant Professor at Pennsylvania State University, Behrend College, School of Engineering. He received his Ph.D. from the Department of Organic and Polymeric Materials, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan. He served as a senior research scientist at the School of Polymers and High-Performance Materials, University of Southern Mississippi, and at the Center for Biomaterial Development, Institute of Polymer Research, GKSS, Germany. He also worked as Research Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Iowa State University and Senor Polymer Engineer at Schlumberger. Prof. Madbouly has published over 100 peer-reviewed journal papers with approximately 3500 citations, as well as 8 patents, 2 books, and 20 book chapters. He has presented more than 100 talks at national and international meetings, and serves as a frequent reviewer and referee. Dr. Chaoqun Zhang is a Full Professor at the College of Materials and Energy, South China Agricultural University, China. Prof. Zhang received his Ph.D. degree in Materials Science and Engineering in 2014 from Iowa State University, USA. Following his Ph.D., he served as a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Sustainable Polymers at the University of Minnesota from 2014 to 2015, and at Texas A&M University from 2015 to 2016, before returning to China. His research interests are focused on vegetable oil-based waterborne polyurethanes, plant polyphenol-based epoxy resins, and carbohydrate-based functional hydrogels. Prof. Zhang has published more than 50 research papers in peer-reviewed journals, has filed more than 10 patents, and has co-edited a book on bio-based plant oil polymers. He was the recipient of the Distinguished Young Scholars Award of Guangdong Province (2018) and the Pearl River Talent Plan (2018).
