Cheryl Moskowitz was born in the US and has lived in the UK since the age of 11. She writes poetry and fiction for children and adults and has over thirty years experience working as a writer in schools and in the wider community. She is also a creative translator and has run creative writing and drama projects with children all over the world including China, Hong Kong, Japan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Switzerland and Germany. She began her working life in the theatre as an actor, playwright and storyteller.
Her poems for children are widely published in anthologies, and her poetry collection Can It Be About Me?, about life in primary school, is in its third reprint. She spent three and a half years as Poet-in Residence at Highfield, a large North London primary school, and during the Covid pandemic she wrote The Corona Collection – A Con(verse)ation, a unique collection of poems that arose from doorstep interviews she had with children about their experience of lockdown.
Cheryl believes that writing fits into all aspects of our lives and that reading poetry and stories is one of the best ways to deepen our knowledge about ourselves and the world we live in. She loves visiting schools to work together with pupils and teachers, encouraging them to write and perform poems and stories of their own.
