Denis Dunstone Author


Denis Dunstone is a Cambridge Law graduate and a former Royal Navy officer who enjoyed a distinguished career as an international business executive. After retiring, he turned his talents to writing and painting, beginning with well-researched book on railway history. He later expanded into etymology with the engaging and amusing , unacademic essay Why is an Apple a Pomme?, which explores the origins of everyday words in various European languages.As a former Royal Navy officer, Denis developed sketching skills. In recent years, he has refined this craft through a popular series of watercolour books featuring rural churches in the UK and Normandy. During the Covid19 Lockdown, Denis published this first collection, A Church Near You. 1066 Churches, released in his 90th year is a vibrant celebration of William the Conqueror's role as a Church builder combining striking watercolours with concise, powerful text.
