Em Strang Author

Em Strang teaches Creative Writing, Creative Reading and COPI (Community of Philosophical Inquiry) at Dumfries prison and worked for some time as Poetry Editor for the Dark Mountain Project. She completed a PhD in Creative Writing (ecological poetry) at the University of Glasgow in 2013, and was a recipient of a Scottish Book Trust New Writer Award the following year. Her first collection, Bird-Woman (Shearsman Books, 2016) eon the Saltuire Prize for best Scottish poetry collection in 2016 Em’s writing preoccupations are with 'nature', spirituality and the relationship between the human and nonhuman. She also has an interest in the theories of creative process and practice, in particular in 'embodied practice' and how breath, movement and voice inform and engage both writer and audience.
