Herman van de Werfhorst Editor

Lucinda Platt is Professor of Social Policy and Sociology at the London School of Economics and Political Science. She previously directed the Millennium Cohort Study; and was a Panel Member of the IFS Deaton Review of Inequality. She has published in Social Forces, European Sociological Review, British Journal of Sociology, and International Migration Review among others, and with OUP and Polity. She is President of the European Academy of Sociology. Javier Polavieja is Research Professor at the Spanish National Research Council, and a Fellow of the European Academy of Sociology. He has published in leading journals including AJS, ASR, ESR, SER, Social Forces, and IMR, and contributed to works published by major academic presses. He serves on the editorial boards of European Sociological Review and Social Forces and has received several international awards. Herman van de Werfhorst holds a Chair in Sociology at the Department of Political and Social Sciences of the European University Institute. He is on leave from the University of Amsterdam, where he has worked for 20 years. Van de Werfhorst's work concentrates on inequalities in and through education and has been published in journals such as American Sociological Review and in another edited volume from OUP. Markus Gangl is Professor of Sociology at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, Germany. Gangl is an elected member of the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina) and of the European Academy of Sociology. He served as Associate Editor and then Editor-in-Chief of the European Sociological Review between 2014 and 2022.
