Kelly Miller (1863-1939) was a Black mathematician, sociologist, author, and journalist. The first Black mathematics graduate student at Johns Hopkins University, he became a force in the intellectual life of Black America. Jonathan Holloway is an American historian and is the first person of color to be named president of Rutgers University. He is the author of several books, including Jim Crow Wisdom: Memory and Identity in Black America since 1940.
