Dr. Jörg Schumann promovierte bei Prof. Dr. Hans Dirrigl am Lehrstuhl für Theoretische Betriebswirtschaftslehre, insbesondere Controlling, der Ruhr-Universität Bochum. Er ist heute als Referent im Konzerncontrolling, Bereich Konzernplanung der RWE AG, Essen tätig.
