Kate Vialls Editor

Graduated from Aberdeen Medical School, initially pursuing renal and immunology, Matthew Doré found his love in Palliative Medicine and his Northern Irish wife. He loves to learn and teach exemplified as past chair of the Palliative Care Congress, teaching in the Hospice UK/APM monthly Clinical ECHO and podcast and his many publications both in journals (BMJ, BMJSPC, UMJ) and media (BBC, Telegraph, Times). He has worked as Honorary secretary of the Association for Palliative Medicine of Great Britain and Ireland and spoken at Westminster and the Dail regarding palliative care provision. He loves ethics, literature, whiskey and his ever-patient family. Dr Rachel Campbell is a Consultant in Palliative Medicine based in the South Eastern Trust in Northern Ireland working within Hospital and Community Services. She has a specialist interest in heart failure and along with cardiology colleagues has developed a Supportive Heart Failure to support those living with the disease. Kate Vialls trained as an RN in Norwich, UK, 37 years ago and has over 20 years of palliative care experience in Adelaide, South Australia, across hospice, liaison, and community settings. With the support of her husband and two gorgeous sons she is now a Nurse Practitioner, currently supporting GPs and Residential Aged Care staff to provide equitable, compassionate end-of-life care. She also works as a volunteer internationally with Flinders Overseas Health Group (FOHG), mentoring health professionals in West Timor to grow and strengthen palliative care in underserved communities.
