Kenneth Mason Author

Kenneth Mason (1931–2023) was a distinguished priest and theological educator who dedicated much of his ministry to the formation of future clergy. Ordained in 1959, he served eleven years in parish ministry within the Diocese of York before moving to Canterbury, where he spent two decades (1969–1989) focused on ministerial training and education. His leadership culminated in his tenure as Principal of Coates Hall, the Theological College of the Scottish Episcopal Church in Edinburgh, from 1989 until 1995. His publications with SLG Press included George Herbert: Priest and Poet (1980), Priesthood and Society (1992), and A Great Joy (2001), reflecting his lifelong interest in Anglican identity, priesthood, and spiritual formation. Throughout his career, Mason was known for his thoughtful integration of pastoral experience with academic rigour. In his later years, he remained an active voice in the church while living in retirement in the Diocese of Ripon.
