Khaled Esseissah is an assistant professor of history at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. His research and teaching lie at the intersection of the studies of slavery, race, gender, Blackness, and Islam in Africa and the African diaspora. His work has recently appeared in The Journal of African History, the Journal of Black Studies, Africa Is aCountry, among others.
