Arie Hartog has been director of the Gerhard-Marcks-Haus in Bremen since 2009. The focus of his scholarly research is the history of sculpture in the twentieth century, with specialisms including the dissemination of early Bauhaus ideas after 1925, the studio practice of Hans/Jean Arp, and the posthumous development of sculptors’ oeuvres from the era of so-called classical modernism. He is also chairman of the German Association of Sculpture Museums and Sculpture Collections.
Since 2009, Loretta Würtenberger has managed artists’ estates including those of Hans/Jean Arp and Sophie Taeuber-Arp, Gerhard Marcks, Katharina Sieverding, Erwin Wurm, Frank Bowling, Wim Wenders, and George Rickey. After studying law, philosophy, and art history, Würtenberger completed her doctorate with a focus on copyright law at the Max Planck Institute and subsequently served as Germany's youngest judge at the Berlin Regional Court. After a successful career in business, she cofounded Fine Art Partners 2009. She is also co-founder of the Contemporary Art Alliance, a non-profit organization promoting contemporary art in Berlin. In 2020, she founded and has since then run the Schlossgut Schwante Sculpture Park together with Daniel Tümpel.
