Luís Alcácer Author

Luís Alcácer is Emeritus Professor at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Universidade de Lisboa, and a Life Member of the Instituto de Telecomunicações. He received his PhD in Chemistry from the University of California, Riverside, in 1970. After working as a re- searcher at the Portuguese Nuclear Physics and Engineering Laboratory, he joined Instituto Superior Técnico as Full Professor in 1975, where he taught Chemical Physics, Solid State Physics, Computational Quantum Chemistry, Spectroscopy and Materials Science.

His research has focused primarily on organic electronics, with additional contributions to polymer electrolytes and high-temperature superconductors.

Professor Alcácer is the author of several books on quantum mechanics and organic electronics, including Electronic Structure of Organic Semiconductors: Polymers and Small Molecules, The Physics of Organic Electronics: From Molecules to Crystals and Polymers, and Introduction to Quantum Mechanics with Applications to Modern Computational Chemistry in Portuguese.
