Mark De'Lisser was born and raised in north-west London. In 2005, he moved to Bath to study Media Communications and Psychology at Bath Spa University, at which time he started writing his first poems. Some years after graduating, Mark began sharing his poems at Open Mics and poetry events around Bath and Bristol. Soon he became a regular on the local circuit.
During this time, Mark was able to combine his love of poetry and music by co-fronting the jazz fusion band 'Omar Don't Scare' which gained popularity around Bath, Bristol and London.
Mark still lives in Bath, where he works as a youth mentor. He often uses poetry writing and spoken word as a way of engaging and inspiring the young people with whom he works. He also facilitates a number of poetry-writing and spoken-word workshops for organisations and youth charities.
In 2021, Mark was commissioned by the Bath Abbey to write a poetic response to their 'Monuments, Empire and Slavery' exhibition, which explored the links between the Abbey and the Transatlantic Slave Trade.
