Pendleton Herring Author

Pendleton Herring (1903-2004) was the chief intellectual architect of the National Security Act of 1947, which unified the armed forces under the secretary of defense, and president of the Social Science Research Council from 1948 to 1968. His many writings include Group Representation Before Congress, The Politics of Democracy, The Impact of War, and Public Administration and the Public Interest. Sidney A. Pearson, Jr. is professor emeritus of political science at Radford University and series editor of Transaction's Library of Liberal Thought.
