Peter Freestone is an English author, speaker, and former personal assistant, best known for his long friendship with Queen frontman Freddie Mercury. Freestone, nicknamed “Phoebe,” trained in classical music and costume design, and worked at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden before joining Queen’s crew in 1979. From 1979 to Mercury’s passing in 1991, he served as Freddie’s PA – handling day to-day life, stage costumes, and companionship. He continues to share memories worldwide through talks, interviews, and HIV/AIDS awareness projects.
