Ricci Shryock Author

Ricci Shryock is a writer and photographer whose work has appeared in publications including The New Yorker and The New York Times, among other publications.  Her work focuses on West Africa, its culture, politics and history.

Originally from the American Midwest, she moved to Dakar in her twenties and has spent nearly two decades reporting on the region. Through her journalism and long-form writing, she seeks to centre local perspectives and challenge dominant narratives about the region. She lives in Dakar with her husband and two daughters.
