Richard Nelson is one of America's leading playwrights and adapters. His many stage plays include Kenneth's First Play (RSC), The General from America (Broadway), New England (RSC and Broadway), Misha's Party (RSC and Moscow Art Theatre), Two Shakespearean Actors(RSC, Broadway and National Theatre Prague). Some Americans Abroad was premiered by the Royal Shakespeare Company at the Pit theatre. It was nominated for an Olivier award for Best Comedy and enjoyed a successful run on Broadway. His adaptations and translations include The Suicide, The Three Sisters, The Marriage of Figaro, Don Juan and an adaptation of Dario Fo's Accidental Death of an Anarchist (Broadway). He has also written extensively for radio, television and film and his works include Sensibility and Sense (American Playhouse), Mansfield Park (BBC), Fanny (Channel 4) and Ethan Frome (American Playhouse /Prime Time).
