Stephen Land Author

Professor Stephen Land has a personal chair in Physiology and Biomedical Education at the University of Dundee, is a Chartered Science Teacher and Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology, and a Fellow of the Physiological Society. In his spare time, he likes to explore with his dog, look under things and generally get very muddy. Land started out in zoology and marine biology laboratories in the UK (Aberdeen), Canada (UBC, Vancouver) and the USA (Marine Biological Laboratory, Woods Hole) that based their science in an idea called the August Krogh Principle: that many disease processes can be understood by studying animals that have evolved adaptations to survive in extreme conditions.
