Professor Dame Theresa Marteau is Professor Emerita in behavioural science at the University of Cambridge and Honorary Fellow of Christ’s College. In 2024 she was ranked amongst the 1000 most cited female scientists globally. For over three decades she has been at the forefront of research to find effective ways to change our everyday behaviours at scale, advising governments in the UK, France, USA, and Australia and collaborating with researchers across Europe, USA, Canada, Australia and India. During the COVID-19 pandemic she participated in the UK Government’s Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE). The impact of her research was recognised in her appointment to Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2017. She lives in Bloomsbury, but not in a square.
