Zita Holbourne Author


Zita Holbourne FRSA is a multi–award winning, multidisciplinary artist, author, educator, community activist, equality and human rights campaigner and trade union leader. Her creative practice  focuses on equality,  freedom, justice and rights and includes work as a visual artist, performance poet, writer and vocalist. She is the author of the book of poetry, Striving for Equality Freedom and Justice, co-author of Roots and Rebellion, winner of the Jessica Kingsley Writing Prize and featured in the award-winning book, Here We Stand, Women Changing the World and recently Encounters with James Baldwin (2024) published by Supernova Books.
Zita is the co-founder and National Chair of Black Activists Rising Against Cuts (BARAC) UK, National Co-Chair of Artists’ Union England. She is, a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and an Honorary Fellow of the University of Wales Trinity Saint David. Awards include: Global Diversity List 100, Caribbean Global Awards – Outstanding Global Arts and Culture and Best Global Community Influencer, Legacy Lifetime Achievement Award for Equality Champion,  Olive Morris Award, Ethnicity Awards top 100.
