A Run with Chris Carse Wilson at The Portobello Bookshop

Please note that this event will take place in and around Portobello, but attendees will be meeting at the bookshop.

Join us in Portobello for a Sunday morning 5K run and a reading with Chris Carse Wilson, author of Fray, a debut novel set in the Scottish Highlands which has been praised by Alan Cumming as ‘Beautiful, amazing, completely mesmerising. I couldn’t recommend it more highly.’

We’ll be meeting at the bookshop at 10am before Chris gives a short introduction to Fray at 10.10am, followed by running down to the Portobello promenade at 10.15am for a gentle run of roughly 5K in distance.

The run will be supported by Edinburgh-based personal trainers fitandhappy.

Runners of all ages and abilities are welcome – the group will be running at a conversational pace, with several stops to re-group and for Chris to read from different parts of his novel.

Following the run, you will have the opportunity to get your copy of Fray signed and dedicated by Chris back in the bookshop.

Please come changed and ready to run, including waterproofs if the weather requires them, as the bookshop has no changing facilities or space to store bags.

Please note that the paperback edition of Fray is due to be published on Thursday 28th March. If you have signed up for a Book & In-Person option and would like to receive your copy ahead of the event on Sunday 14th April, please get in touch via our contact form and we'll be happy to help.

About Fray:

I am not gone. Mum is not gone. We are here. We are hidden.

A father who is trying to rescue his lost wife.

Their child, desperately searching the wild forests and dangerous mountains of the Scottish Highlands, not knowing what’s out there.

An abandoned cottage in the remote wilderness, filled with thousands of confusing, terrifying handwritten notes.

And a dark, looming voice who threatens to destroy everything…

If you take part in the 5K run, please note that you do so at your own risk.

Please note: Tickets for our events are non-refundable. Professional photography and videography may take place during this event. Thank you for your understanding.
