David Nicholls – You Are Here at Pleasance Theatre

It's our great pleasure to be hosting an Edinburgh event with David Nicholls to celebrate the publication of his latest novel, You Are Here. It's a love story which unfolds on a walk across the north of England; ten days through the Lakes, the Dales and the North Yorkshire Moors. In his first novel since 2019's Sweet Sorrow, Nicholls has returned with a witty, unexpected, thoughtful and beautifully-written novel and we can't wait to hear him discuss it with author, journalist and broadcaster Sam Baker.

David Nicholls has a particularly special Edinburgh connection as his beloved novel One Day is partly set here. There's a new 14-episode Netflix series adaptation of the book which was executive-produced by him and will be streaming from 8th February. Maybe we'll get to hear about that too!

Please note that this event will take place at the Pleasance Theatre. There will be a book signing after the event.

The Book & In-person Audience option includes a copy of the Signed Indie Bookshop Exclusive Edition of You Are Here which will be available to collect at the event venue. Doors due to open at 7pm.

Please note that there will not be a livestream of this event.

About You Are Here:

Sometimes you need to get lost to find your way

Marnie is stuck.

Stuck working alone in her London flat, stuck battling the long afternoons and a life that increasingly feels like it’s passing her by.

Michael is coming undone.

Reeling from his wife’s departure, increasingly reclusive, taking himself on long, solitary walks across the moors and fells.

When a persistent mutual friend and some very English weather conspire to bring them together, Marnie and Michael suddenly find themselves alone on the most epic of walks and on the precipice of a new friendship.

But can it survive the journey?

A new love story by beloved bestseller David Nicholls, You Are Here is a novel of first encounters, second chances and finding the way home.

Please note: Tickets for our events are non-refundable. Professional photography and videography may take place during this event. Thank you for your understanding.
