We're excited to welcome the Extra Teeth team back to the bookshop to celebrate Issue 11, which is packed full of brilliant writing from some of Scotland's finest writers, both emerging and established! Join us for an evening of readings from Rachel Ashenden, Deborah Chu and Eris Young, who are all featured in this brand new issue.
This event will take place in the bookshop with an in-person audience, as well as a livestream for attendees watching from home.
In-person vouchers can be redeemed on the night of the event against a single copy of Issue 11 – we will have a list of attendees with vouchers to be redeemed. Please note that only one voucher can be redeemed per magazine. Livestream vouchers are valid until the day after the event and can be redeemed on our website against a single copy of Issue 11.

Featuring some of Scotland’s best emerging and established writers, and work from exciting new writers from further afield, Issue 11 of Extra Teeth showcases features genre-defying fiction and nonfiction, featuring illustration throughout by guest illustrator Agnes Boman.

Rachel Ashenden Author
Rachel Ashenden is a writer and editor based in Edinburgh, with bylines in ArtReview, Plaster, The List and others. She loves to write about aliens, visual art and working-class identity. Alongside, she is the Art Editor of The Skinny, a leading culture magazine in Scotland, and a Commissioning Editor for Art UK.
Deborah Chu Author
Deborah Chu is a writer currently based in Edinburgh. Her works have been published in Gutter, The Observer, The Scotsman, The Skinny and gal-dem. She was a previous recipient of the Scottish Book Trust’s New Writers Award. She was born in Taiwan and raised in Vancouver, Canada.
Eris Young Author
Eris Young is a transgender writer of speculative fiction. Their work has appeared in venues such as Pseudopod, Gutter, GigaNotoSaurus, the Immigrant Sci Fi Short Stories anthology from Flame Tree Press, and the 2025 Edinburgh Science Festival exhibition at the National Museum of Scotland. Their debut novel, a lesbian vampire thriller titled Hunger in the Blood, is publishing with Tor UK in May 2027. They are fiction editor at Shoreline of Infinity, Scotland’s sci fi magazine.

Wheelchair Access
We have a ramp at the front of the shop which has a ratio of 1:10 and loading capacity of 300kg, and so should be able to be used by most wheelchair users or those with mobility vehicles. The front doors are fully automated. Our shop interior is designed to allow access throughout for wheelchair users and prams, though please note there is only 700mm wide clearance to access the staff toilet.
Sound
We use a PA system to enhance the audio at our live events. We also have a hearing loop system installed, if you’d like to use our loop system during an event please let us know and we’ll make sure we have it set up and connected to the live audio feed during the event. If you wish to attend an event and require BSL interpretation, please give us a few weeks notice and we’ll do our best to arrange an interpreter.
