Extra Teeth are back with a brand new issue packed full of brilliant writing from some of Scotland's finest writers, both emerging and established, and we're hosting the launch event! Join us for an evening of readings from contributors to the magazine: Julie Galante, Nazaret Ranea and Jacques Tsiantar.
This event will take place in the bookshop with an in-person audience, as well as a livestream for attendees watching from home.
In-person vouchers can be redeemed on the night of the event against a single copy of Issue Nine – we will have a list of attendees with vouchers to be redeemed. Please note that only one voucher can be redeemed per magazine. Livestream vouchers are valid until the day after the event and can be redeemed on our website against a single copy of Issue Nine.

Featuring some of Scotland’s best emerging and established writers, and work from exciting new writers from further afield, Issue Nine of Extra Teeth showcases features genre-defying fiction and nonfiction, all captured in its strange and brilliant glory by illustrator KMG.

Julie Galente Author
Julie Galante is a visual artist and writer who enjoys using her creative work as an excuse to get to know the neighbourhood trees better. Originally from the US, she called several European countries home before settling in Scotland in 2013. Her short stories and creative nonfiction have appeared in various anthologies and periodicals, and she won the inaugural Janet Coats Black Prize for Fiction in 2019. She currently lives in Edinburgh with her cat, Purrcules Mulligan. Her artwork and links to her writing can be found on her website www.juliegalante.com.
Nazaret Ranea Author
Nazaret Ranea (b. 1999, Málaga, Spain) is a poet and emerging fiction writer based in Edinburgh, Scotland. Celebrated as one of Scotland’s Next Generation Young Makars, her poetry explores themes of home, nostalgia, and family, appearing in over 50 publications worldwide. She is the author of the zines My Men & My Women and editor of For Those Who Tend the Soil, an anthology in collaboration with the Scottish Poetry Library. Nazaret’s work has been featured at the Edinburgh Fringe, the Edinburgh International Book Festival, and on BBC Radio Scotland. More at www.nazaretranea.com.
Jacques Tsiantar Author
Jacques Tsiantar is an Edinburgh-based, disabled writer of fiction. His works deal with chronic illness, gender, grief, and the uncanny. He won the 2024 Dinesh Allirajah Short Fiction Prize, was shortlisted for The 2022 Bridge Award’s Emerging Writer Award and the MMU Novella Award in 2016. His work appears in Gutter Magazine and New Writing Scotland. He is currently working on his debut novel.

Wheelchair Access
We have a ramp at the front of the shop which has a ratio of 1:10 and loading capacity of 300kg, and so should be able to be used by most wheelchair users or those with mobility vehicles. The front doors are fully automated. Our shop interior is designed to allow access throughout for wheelchair users and prams, though please note there is only 700mm wide clearance to access the staff toilet.
Sound
We use a PA system to enhance the audio at our live events. We also have a hearing loop system installed, if you’d like to use our loop system during an event please let us know and we’ll make sure we have it set up and connected to the live audio feed during the event. If you wish to attend an event and require BSL interpretation, please give us a few weeks notice and we’ll do our best to arrange an interpreter.
