Floral Embroidery Masterclass at The Portobello Bookshop

We are excited to welcome Lucy Freeman to the bookshop for an intimate and meditative Floral Embroidery Masterclass!

This event will take place at the bookshop, and your booking includes a complimentary notebook and pencil to take notes. Due to the hands-on approach of the masterclass, tickets will be limited.

Local artist Lucy Freeman will teach you a contemporary embroidery style that is modern, expressive and easy to pick up. It’s simpler than traditional methods, using big stitches and blended colours to achieve a painterly look that’s perfect for flowers - great for beginners and practised stitchers alike! Choose your favourite design from a variety of flowers and colours and learn each stitch together with Lucy’s expert guidance. We’ll cover all the basics, even how to thread a needle, so all abilities are welcome!

Your ticket includes all the materials: fabric, threads, templates, an embroidery hoop and needle, as well as instructional sheets and access to video tutorials so you can continue to learn more after the workshop. Plus, you can take everything home with you to continue sewing at home.

Lucy taught herself embroidery six years ago, experimenting at home with messy stitches on scrap fabric and she quickly fell in love with the craft. The slow process of embroidery allows the mind to rest, repeated stitches, tactile materials and creative expression all come together to help you relax and unwind. Come and discover the joys of embroidery yourself!
