Froggy: Autumn Antics! cover

This charming young comic is the second installment of Froggy's adventures, ideal for independent readers.

Froggy is back for another series of little adventures, but this time, it's a whole lot chillier - which for Froggy just means cosy fires, playing in leaves and being his usual curious but slimy self! Winter is approaching at the pond, and Froggy is gearing up for all the fun that autumn and winter bring. Soup! Reading books in front of the fire! Snowball fights! Leaf fights! Mud fights! But he's noticed that his pond friends seem to be slowing down and getting ready to sleep through all the fun. Will he get lonely when they all go to sleep, or will he find more mischief to get into? The perfect cosy comic for Fall fun.

Paige Walshe has done it again, creating another wonderfully entertaining graphic novel featuring everyone's favourite frog. There are lots of fun characters that had both me and my child laughing, and Froggy's expressions especially steal the show. Her light, painterly art style complements the easy-to-read text wonderfully. It has magic, it has heart, it has it all! Highly recommended!" * Andreas Schuster, Cartoonist for The Phoenix *

This is the perfect graphic novel for beginners and those looking for a cosy read -- Caroline Carpenter * The Bookseller, '10 Titles Not to Miss in July' *
The leaves starting to fall means winter's not far away, and in this second book in Walshe's Froggy series, the titular amphibian and his other pond pals agree to each try to fulfill one last wish before they part ways to hibernate. Seems simple enough, but some of the wishes are complicated: One friend wants to brave the farmer's market for some tasty treats. Another wants to build a scarecrow. But Fishtopher wants to fly, and Ruby the bee wants to see ghosts. In their own determined, sometimes misguided ways, the pond pals cheerily fulfill each wish. Fishtopher does actually get to fly, but he also experiences falling for the first time. In a cheery, bright palette and with sharp comedic timing, Walshe depicts the bustling cartoon critters against busy scenes full of playful details that cultivate a cozy forest atmosphere. A narrator adds cheeky commentary, especially when hibernation leaves nothing for a disembodied voice to narrate. These episodic stories of slightly magic animals getting up to mischief will charm kids who love sweet, silly, off-kilter tales. -- Sarah Hunter * Booklist Review *
