This is the second title in a fascinating new study of the little-known evidence concerning the clothing of the Roman Army, from the late Republic to the end of the Empire. The author/artist draws upon written, pictorial, sculptural and archaeological sources to reconstruct the appearance of the Roman soldier on all those occasions when he was not concealed by armour - that is, on most days throughout his career.
