The Erasure of Palestine

The Erasure of Palestine is the result of a three-year journey by award-winning photographer and filmmaker Ahmad Al-Bazz, to record the hundreds of Palestinian villages and towns depopulated and destroyed during the creation and expansion of Israel, from 1948 to the present. 

Through more than 70 large, detailed colour photographs and extensive research, the book documents the destruction that has accompanied the creation and development of the state of Israel.

Today, unmistakable traces of destroyed Palestinian communities haunt nearly every Israeli settlement, revealing not only a past catastrophe but an ongoing process - a continuous history of colonisation and removal.

The evidence points to the inescapable fact that cleansing has been, from the outset, a central pillar of Israel’s existence and policy – both as a method and as a long-term strategy.
