Thingamanose cover

There’s a Thingamanose stuck up Rose’s nose but nobody believes her — especially Dad! He thinks he 'nose' best! A comically illustrated, rhyming children's book for those with a nose for mischief. Contains slime!

A story about a thing-up-a-nose and how sometimes it's very annoying when adults don't believe you.

Part picture book, part comic, part chapter book, in a handy size for reading alone, for reading at bedtime, or reading by a teacher.

A rhyming, illustrated comic-style, funny story for children. Ideal for ages 5 to 7.

Rose's life is snot-very-fun after she wakes up to find her nose blocked with a Thingamanose stuck up there. But, however she moans, nobody believes her, especially her parents. After the Thingamanose escapes on a school trip to a pepper factory (to have a 'nose' around!) it causes havoc.

Can Rose find a way of capturing it and convincing her parents she is telling the truth? That there is such thing as a THINGAMANOSE!

Rose knows there’s something in her nose, something that shouldn’t be there, but can she get her parents to believe her? No she can’t! Even when the Thingamanose drops (drips?) out, they won’t listen, and the slimy little alien is able to hitch a lift to school and then to join the year four school trip to a local pepper mill, there to cause chaos. The story might leave some adults feeling green, but certain kids will love it. There are black and white cartoon illustrations on every page and the rhyming text bounces along at speed.

Humorous and insightful.

Insightful and funny, I loved this book by Lynne Hudson. The author shows great understanding of the child's perspective on events.

I think kids will love the Thingamanose as I did.

The illustrations are lightly drawn and humorous, Lynne captures emotion in just few strokes which is very clever.
I am sure that children of all ages will like this book, it works both as a readout story and an individual read.
It will be pleasure to buy this as a gift for friends with youngsters this Christmas.

Superb book to help children understand rhyme.

As a primary school teacher, I believe that this book could be used as a great scaffolding tool to help children learn, enjoy and understand rhyme. The book also holds PHSE elements, regarding social interactions and feeling. All in all, this book is well structured and easy to read. Additionally, the choice of font is great for children with SpLDs and I love how the rhyming words are in bold.

I would love to see what other adventures Thingamanose could get up to!

Entertaining story for children moving from picture books to longer reads.

Thingamanose is a lovely, funny tale of a nostril dwelling monster and Rose, the girl who nobody believes.

The rhyme is easy, with some more challenging words at times, and the story is longer than the standard Julia Donaldson style picture books, which makes it a great way to segue children from picture to text books.

The illustrations are almost comic-book or graphic novel in style, which my daughter found interesting and spent lots of time looking at to spot all the funny little details. She also mentioned that she'd like to colour the pictures in, which I thought would be a great way to personalise it!

Funny and Well Structured.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, cleverly drawn and structured it highlights how we should really listen to and understand people and not just write them off as fibbers! You never know, you could be challenged with a Thingamanose!!

I can see kids of all ages loving it.

Fabulously entertaining and fun story for children and adults alike.

What a fun book. I read it to my friend's 4 year old and although I thought he may be a bit young for it, his attention was kept for the whole story. He really enjoyed spotting the Thingamanose in the pages of the book and his favourite bit *SPOILER ALERT* was when it went up someone's nose!

And as the person reading the book out loud, I really enjoyed the rhyme. This made it great fun to vocalise and bring to life.

The book is fabulously illustrated with expressive characters especially the Thingamanose. The images inside aren't in colour, so an added bonus, I'm sure children will really enjoy colouring it in too.'

A rhyming story, full of humour, originality and vibrant illustrations.

Thingamanose is a page turner of a book, full of humour and originality. The heroine, Rose, has to convince her parents that there is a creature - the Thingamanose - living up her nose. Children will love the rhyming format and the yuckiness associated with noses!

The author conveys brilliantly the emotions felt in childhood, especially the frustration of not being believed. The book is presented in a mixed format of both picture and comic book styles which will appeal to a wider age range, and attract more reluctant readers to the joys of storytelling. It will also work really well as a read aloud book .

The illustrations are full of life and energy. Thingamanose comes across as a very naughty but engaging character. I enjoyed particularly his antics in the school trip chapter. The story and pictures are presented wholly in black and white but this in no way detracts from its appeal. Each page is packed with rhyme, speech bubbles and illustrations which give the book great vibrancy.

Thingamanose is set to become a firm favourite with children and parents alike. A great gift for 3-9 year olds for the upcoming festive season.
