This book (re)asserts the importance of imbuing feminism with anarchism, and also anarchism with feminism. Chapters coalesce around the assertion that anarchafeminism is important for rejecting all forms of hierarchy, oppression, and exploitation which include but are not limited to those of gender.
While numerous feminisms have gained mainstream attention, most are theoretically and practically incapable of liberating all those they seek to include. This book makes two unique contributions. First, it extends the anarchafeminist theory of Chiara Bottici’s Anarchafeminism. Second, con tributors draw multiple direct connections between anarchafeminism and Black Studies, particularly Black feminism, Black anarchism, and abolition. Too much anarchist theory and practice has overlooked or downplayed gender, racial, or colonial concerns. This book (re)asserts the importance of imbuing feminism with anarchism, and anarchism with feminism, for a coherent theory of liberation.
Proudly abolitionist, radically imaginative, and uncompromisingly anti-total itarian, this volume draws on diverse anarchafeminist traditions while reject ing fascist and exclusionary feminisms. Weaving together Black studies, queer theory, and Indigenous genealogies, it breaks with the ‘respectable’ academic canon to deliver an applied toolkit for contemporary struggle. * Federica Timento, Ca’ Foscari University of Venice *
Using anarchafeminism as a lens for critical reflection on the nature of women’s oppression and a springboard for intersectional analysis of per vasive systems of domination, the authors’ imaginative and thoughtfully curated collection reinterrogates the past, present, and future of militant theory showing how anarchafeminism manifests in practice and maps new paths to action. * Ruth Kinna, Loughborough University *
